Namoul Wastewater Treatment Plant

Qalyubia, Egypt | Ongoing

Project Description.

Part of the government’s approach towards preservation of natural water resources included the immediate construction of wastewater treatment plants fed by existing drains.

One of these projects was Namoul WWTP which contributes towards the preservation of Shebeen El Koom drain and the effluent is to be used for irrigation purposes.

The project was awarded on a design and build basis, therefore, it was our duty to generate a cost-efficient design whilst ensuring low power consumption and process durability.

Scope of Project.

The project involved design, supply and installation of electromechanical components required for the first stage of Namoul WWTP to treat 10,000 m3/day.

The process combined continuous activated sludge technology with intermittent system operation using double basin per SBR tank design in which the activated sludge is exposed to aerobic conditions over several cycles.

The duration of each cycle was determined according to plant capacity and continuous inflow was accommodated at all times. The electromechanical components were supplied and installed to withstand 24-hour operation whilst enduring the severe nature of wastewater constituents to ensure minimum risk of failure.
